Teaching Assistant Required (Adult Education) Peterborough & Northamptonshire

Location: Peterborough & Northamptonshire
Salary: Negotiable – up to £15k per annum
Responsible to: Peripatetic Level 4 Numeracy & Literacy Specialist Tutor

Introduction:

Our client is a dedicated private training provider whose single goal is to identify and satisfy the trainings need of individuals and the business community.
They aim to provide quality training that will increase an individual's chances of gaining employment, whilst enhancing their existing employment and improving the efficiency of local businesses.
This organisation is now looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant to support their delivery of Skills for Life (Literacy & Numeracy) in both the Peterborough and Northamptonshire areas.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing organisation that would also be a good route for someone looking to get into Adult Teaching / Training.

Job Purpose:

To contribute to a wide range of teaching and learning activities, and to assist and support the work of qualified tutors. To work within the statutory frameworks relevant to the role.

Overall Objective:

• Teaching a wide range of learners, using diverse methods of teaching and learning.
• Requirement to be constantly assessing learners’ needs and planning to meet those needs.
• To be able to reflect upon own practice and to employ appropriate methods.
• Reflective practice and scholarship should also underpin the wider professional role in managing the learning process, developing curriculum and guiding and supporting the learning in partnership with others in the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• To support learners
• To be familiar with the Company’s curriculum
• To support ICT learning to advance learners
• To monitor learners’ participation and progress
• To build and maintain successful relationships with learners
• To contribute effectively to tutors’ planning and preparation of lessons

Person Specification:

Knowledge
• A qualification in English/literacy and mathematics/numeracy, equivalent to at least Level 2 of the National Qualifications Framework
• Knowledge of a range of strategies to establish a purposeful learning environment and to promote good behaviour
• Knowledge of the key factors that affect the way learners learn

Experience
• Experience of working as a Teaching Assistant or equivalent experience of working with adults in an learning environment
• Experience of using ICT to advance learners’ learning, and experience of using common ICT tools for own and learners’ benefit

Teaching Assistant required - working in the East Midlands Region

Salary - £15k per annum

They aim to provide quality training that will increase an individual's chances of gaining employment, whilst enhancing their existing employment and improving the efficiency of local businesses.

This organisation is now looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant to support their delivery of Skills for Life (Literacy & Numeracy).

Ideally applicants will have experience in supporting adults in a Training environment, although applicants possessing Classroom / School Teaching Assistant experience will also be considered.

This is a peripatetic role, and will involve travelling between various training centres throughout the East Midlands region, including Chesterfield and Nottingham.

Applicants will ideally possess the DTTLS (Diploma to Teach) Qualification or equivalent, as well as being qualified to Level 2 in both Literacy and Numeracy. Good ‘people skills’ and a decent level of IT (MS Office etc) is also required.
